Electrical Design Engineer

Overview of Position


The Electrical Design Engineer is primarily involved in the development or improvement of actual products or designs. Work may include creation of previously non-existent products or modification of existing products, including product line extensions.


Description of Duties and Job Responsibilities

  • Develops thorough understanding of company products and knowledge of order process.
  • Conceptualizes, develop prototypes, tests, and perfects designs.
  • Selects and tests materials and components that will be suitable for the products.
  • Responds to customer requests for particular products or designs.
  • Applies engineering principles and concepts to the design process for various products.
  • Uses AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor to design product models of control boxes; problem-solves manufacturing issues and redesigns models as necessary.
  • Uses AutoCAD to model production drawings and wiring schematics.
  • Use our MRP system (TCM) to create bill of materials and routings.
  • Completes tasks that are routine and detailed as well as ones that are broad and require creativity.
  • Works independently; manages and tracks special projects.
  • In addition to engineering software, uses basic computer software such as spreadsheets, databases, word processing applications, email, Internet, etc.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
  • At least 2 years of related experience in designing or manufacturing industrial controls.
  • Working knowledge of TCM or other MRP/ERP software.
  • MUST have working knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • No relocation-local candidates only.
